Introductory words

It's taken me around four or five years to realize that I have a writer within. I'm not saying I have the talent, I'm not saying I am gifted. That's not for me to judge, and truth be told, I don't care about it. I'm just saying that for many years there has been somebody inside me who has remained silent and now needs to break free. What this person wants is to put into words what she sees, tastes, smells, touches, steps on, everything she experiences and senses. No matter whether it is about trifles, nonsense issues, or big deals. All and everything that is important to this person is important to me because we are the same. And for the first time in my life, I will take the risk of opening myself to all of you. This will be my comfort zone where I'll feel protected through the power of the written word. I don't know if this is something you enjoy, if you have done this before, but before saying no, give yourselves a try. I know we all have something to say, even when we think it's something small or silly. Let me tell you that I intend to create a space here where we can all cocoon ourselves in our fantasy or real world, where there are no "buts"and no judgements. I intend to create a creative writing community in which we can all be actors and audience. Ideally, it would be great if all of us posted and commented on the different entries because I don't want to bore you all the time with my stories. We all need to play the part of the writer and the reader. I would like you all to make this corner yours, because it is! I know that we are all busy, but if you feel you like it, try it. You don't need previous experience. It is just your mind, what you want to say and the pc. It can be real or imaginary. It can be about anything. You just have to lose control. Don't worry if it is correct, polite, appropriate. Say what you want to say. Just let it rip. Free the writer within.

How this works

I have already told you what this is all about. But maybe I failed to mention in a more clear way how I intend to make this work.

This is easy. I will "pull the trigger" on each entry with something that motivates you to keep your hand moving. If you feel like responding to it, you just have to go for it. You may react in the "comments" section, or if you don't feel like reacting to that entry in particular, you may create your own, but always inviting the readers to react.

I hope this turns into something entertaining, interactive and above all, enriching to all of you :)

Welcome!

Belén

  1. Great idea, my friend!! Congrats! I love reading and writing as well. Believe it or not, I prefer writing in English because I feel sort of safer... I´ll try to participate in your blog as regularly as possible! Love you, mendocina! :)

    1. Welcome, Lore! Thanks for accepting the invitation to set off on this journey! I'm not surprised about how you feel when it comes to writing in English. As Javier says, it has to do with the affinity you feel and what you can create with it, as long as you are able to express yourself. And the most important of all, is that we can get to know new people while having fun doing something we enjoy.

A very big hug, Dearest Córdoba ;o)!

  2. I quite agree with you both. It's funny how one can find it more comfortable to express oneself in a completely different language. But then I guess it's got to do with the affinity that one may or may not feel with the culture, the way of looking at things, etc.

Are we to write in English or in Spanish, then? Or, for that matter, in Thai or Swahili? Now, it may well happen that to the outsider, the non-bilingual -or indeed the polyglot, the predicament resembles nothing so much as the wankiest kind of self-congratulation and show-offness. And they may well be right. In fact, I think they often are. But as Belen rightly said, it doesn't matter.

It just does not matter whether the words here imprinted ooze the smelly puss of arrogance or the gentler, lavender-like smells of honesty and truthfulness. What matters is that we're having fun. And I, judging from the length of my entry, am having much too much fun.

    1. Javo! or Javier? (I guess this is Javier Arévalo?) What an asset to have you around!I'm so glad that you're having so much fun, so am I. Actually, I'm pleased to know that I can share this with people that really understand, feel and enjoy this as much as I do.

I definitely agree with what you have said and how you have said it! I don't have anything to add, you have said it all ;o)

As you have posted above, we are to write in whatever language we want,it doesn't matter, as long as we feel happy, comfortable, relieved, etc.

English could work best since I've also invited some friends who are native speakers of English. But in any case, we could help with translation. I don't want to set any restrictions. I just want the writer to let it flow.

      Bestest,
      B
